Kelley Williams-Bolar, 40, of Akron, is a stand-up Black mother. As a single parent, she feared for the safety and future of her two children as students of the Akron City school district met only four of 26 standards on the latest Ohio Department of Education Report Card and had a 76% graduation rate, and so she moved them into the neighboring Copley-Fairlawn City School District, which had met 26 of 26 standards and had a 97.5% graduation rate.
FOR THIS TERRIBLE CRIME, SHE WAS SENTENCED TO FIVE YEARS IN PRISON (SUSPENDED TO 10 DAYS), SLAPPED WITH A FELONY, AND MUST ALSO SERVE 80 HOURS OF COMMUNITY SERVICE, PAY BACK THE $30,000 THE SCHOOL DISTRICT SPENT ON A PRIVATE INVESTIGATOR TO SPY ON HER, AND WILL BE ON PROBATION FOR 3 YEARS. (Sentence handed down by Summit County Common Pleas Judge Patricia Cosgrove – Make sure if you are in the area that you make her pay).
Ms. Williams-Bolar illegally registered her two daughters at her father’s address in suburban Copley Township to get them into the Copley-Fairlawn school district rather than the urban Akron district, a jury decided.
Nevermind that she was only 12 credit hours away from earning her teachers licence. Nevermind that she was trying to help her daughters escape a poor school system and crime ridden neighborhood. Nevermind that she actually did have residence with her father in the district.
She is a felon.
Copley-Fairlawn Superintendent Brian Poe told WJW-TV the case cost the district $30,000 in two years of lost tuition and $6,000 it spent on the investigation. He denied that Williams-Bolar was singled out because she is black and the Copley-Fairlawn district is 75% white.
Yea FUCKKIN RIGHT! If this was a white parent, she would have been celebrated for doing the right thing for her kids, but not Ms. Williams-Bolar! She is a “criminal” and deserves to be slapped with the life-long label of felon.
Oh, and should it be mentioned that NO ONE ELSE WAS PROSECUTED IN THIS INCIDENT!
So this is what Blacks in America have been reduced to? Having to smuggle our kids into better (white) schools at the risk of a FELONY?!? Not only is America telling us “we want to keep our schools segregated” but they are showing us Blacks in America the length that they will go to keep us out and away from them and their so-called “American Dream”. Where is the outrage people?
