Who Is Joseph Kony?
A picture is worth a thousand words. This video speaks volumes. Watch it now. It might be the most important video you see all day.
How We Screwed Up
Back in October of 2011, President Obama authorized a small group of Marines into Africa to destroy the Lords Resistance Army and capture Joseph Kony. We blasted the Obama decision as a continuation of American imperialism, and initially saw no need for such intervention.
After the video above came to our attention, we not only retract our previous criticism for the Obama administrations actions, but we encourage – demand – even more be done. For the United States t claim to represent certain virtues, and not bring Joseph Kony down is hypocritical.
United Black America stands for the redemption of our African homeland, and against anyone working against the progress of that mission. Joseph Kony is just such a person, and he must be stopped.
With that being said, we DO NOT fully suport the Kony 2012 movement.
Why United Black America DOES NOT Support the Kony 2012 Movement
I dont know if the Stop Kony Movement is a scam, but here are three reasons why we cant endorse the Kony 2012 movement:
1. Invisible Children – the so-called non-profit behind the Make Joseph Kony Famous campaign has been condemned time and time again. Last year, the organization spent $8,676,614. Only 32% went to direct services. The rest went to films and payroll.
2. The film belittles the efforts of Pan-African revolutionaries that have fought against Joseph Kony for years. AFRICOM has tried to kill the guy for years, but failed due to fake-outs and bad funding. Also, hear what this Ugandan journalist had to say about the coverage Joseph Kony has received:
3. Supporting Kony 2012 means sending money straight to the Ugandan military, who are themselves committing atrocities, raping and looting away.
I encourage everyone to do their due diligence before jumping onto any old bandwagon, and remember that with white values serving as an archetype, we cant be sure of anyones motives in Africa!
Peace!
