One of the things that I appreciate about the Great Recession is that the rest of mainstream America now knows what we Black folks have always known: the system doesn’t give a damn about you and the world don’t owe you a living.
Many African Americans have never had a mortgage. Many African Americans grew up without eating breakfast before school, and eating free lunch at school. Many African Americans – my mother included – had to scrape, negotiate, hustle and sacrifice to maintain any kind of quality of life. And with todays economy being what it is, NPR, Fox News, and talk radio airwaves are filled with white, formerly middle class workers bitching and moaning about jobs off-shoring and shrinking pension funds.
Cry me a fucking river.
The truth of the matter is we can’t blame Obama, Chinese imports, corporations, big banks, and economic bubbles – and neither can anyone else in this country. The real problem is a collective lack of our ability to DO FOR OURSELVES. Let the rest of America go down with the Titanic that they have built. We can choose to build a new system based on original values.

You Might Be A Slave If…
You are in debt before you are born
From the moment your lungs inhale the first breath of air, your are in the red. The average cost of a normal pregnancy and birth in an American hospital is about $7600. So you are saddled with debt before you see the light of day. BTW…Babies born in Qaddafi’s administration didnt have this problem.
You are someone elses property
In 1933 following the Great depression bankruptcy was declared by President Roosevelt. Central bankers offered the United States the opportunity to continue to conduct commerce even though the country was bankrupt and there was no money – by pledging citizens as collateral. The governors of the then 48 States pledged the “full faith and credit” of their states, including the citizenry, as collateral for loans of credit from the Federal Reserve system. To wit:”Full faith and credit” clause of Const. U.S. article 4. sec. 1, requires that foreign judgement be given such faith and credit as it had by law or usage of state of its origin. That foreign statutes are to have force and effect to which they are entitled in home state. And that a judgement or record shall have the same faith, credit, conclusive effect, and obligatory force in other states as it has by law or usage in the state from whence taken.
The state claims an interest in every child within it’s jurisdiction. The state will, if it deems it necessary, nullify your parental rights and appoint a guardian (trustee) over your children. The subject of every birth certificate is a child. The child is a valuable asset, which if properly trained, can contribute valuable assets provided by its labor for many years. Why do you think they teach teachers to not only teach their students, but their parents that their child needs a good education so that they can grow up and get a good job?
Your mind is bound by ignorance
This is what mental slavery looks like: I have seen African Americans tweet “fuck Black History Month”. I have seen Black men and women kill each other over shoes, shows, clothes, and hoes (not women, hoes). I know both Black men and women who only date white men and women. I have seen BMWs parked in front of trailer park home and projects.
- African American males between 15 and 34 are nine times more likely than whites to be killed by firearms.
- African American males are nearly eight times more likely than whites to suffer from AIDS.
- After attending elementary school, African Americans “begin to fall behind on standardized tests.” The Urban League reported that in fourth grade blacks perform at a level of 87 percent of whites. By the time they reach twelfth grade, their scores are at 74 percent of whites.
- By high school African Americans are more likely to drop out, get pregnant, or fail out of school. In adulthood, poverty, STDs, curable diseases, crime, and ignorance plague us in tandem firestorms.
You are owned, you are a slave, you are not free. Your biological property is signed over to the state via your birth certificate. Your mental property is signed over to academic institutions. Your spiritual property is signed over to religious puppet masters. 75% of all your labor is devoted JUST to holding up the system. Speaking of the system…
- the system gives a damned about your opinion on economic policy
- the system gives a damned about your quality of life (to the extent that your productivity is affected)
- the system gives a damned about educating your children
- the system gives a damned about what you occupy, as long as business continues on as usual
- the system wants you to focus on Drake and Kim Kardashian’s fake marriage
- the system wants you to stand in line for hours to fight over and buy Jordans
- the system wants you to get up, go to work, pay your taxes, and repeat until you die
- the system wants you to NOT care
- the system wants you to remain ignorant
Identifying and Escaping the “System”
What is this mysterious system that we keep referring to? Well, it was a bunch of men many years before you were born, realising that people need resources to live, and if they could somehow streamline those resources to you without you going to get them, you will have to depend on the system to get what you need. The system feeds you, sustains you, houses you, and is so efficient at doing so that you couldn’t escape it even if you wanted to.
Another alternative MUST be built OUTSIDE of the system that provides individuals with a comparable quality of life, but without the loss of sovereignty, identity, liberty, and inalienable rights. This can be done voluntarily, or out of necessity – since this system WILL NOT last. Contrary to President Obama’s State of the Union Address, its not built to last.
We know the house is on fire, but we still sit in it as it burns…watching T.V. while eating Church’s Chicken in our new Jordans.
We need something else ready to replace this system when it goes – a fair system, a system that works for all people or at least as many as we can make it work for, with access to the resources we need without wasting 75% of our lives trying to achieve them.
We need to leverage the power of technology in an open source network that offers the greatest Black minds in all the world to learn and collaborate with one another for the good of humanity rather than to perpetuate war and debt. The current system is the cause of 95% of all genuine crime in the world, (particularly the war on drugs )
A new and different way forward is necessary, mandatory, and possible. It is up to us to conceptualize and create it. Thats the only way we can do for ourselves.
